BATCHING YOUR WORK. 5 THINGS TO CONSIDER.

Do you have specific tasks that you do over and over again?

Do you find yourself spending a lot of time doing the same type of things repetitively (Social Media Posts, Videos, Podcasts, etc.) and wish you could just do it all at once and have it done for a while?

Well you can... in fact, in most cases you can get it all done in the same amount of time that you would be spending on one specific task, by batching your work.

Batch working is something that I get a lot of questions about. People are very intrigued but don't quite understand the concept of it.

Today I will be sharing with you what batching is, how it works, and things to consider to be able to be the most productive you can while batching.

Okay, so first thing's first: “What is batch working?”

Let me tell you... It will help save you so much time and sanity.

Batch working is creating time blocks to do similar tasks all in one time period. You can batch your posts, videos, courses, blogs, etc. (I batch all of these)

Sooo... "How does batching work?"

When you batch your work, you are setting a certain amount of time to do similar tasks from start to finish, uninterrupted, to save time to do things that you've been wanting or needing to get done.

"Put these abilities to work; throw yourself into your tasks so that everyone may notice your improvement and progress. Keep a close watch on all you do and think. Stay true to what is right and God will bless you and use you to help others." 1 Timothy 4: 15-16

Here are 5 things to consider when batching your work:

1. CREATING AN UNINTERRUPTED TIME TO BATCH YOUR WORK.

- You have to create a time to batch your work.

- So let’s say you want to batch all of your social media posts for the week... put about 3 hours down (or how we long you think it will take you) on your calendar to do this and do not be flexible with this time.

- Only focus on the task at hand. It’s more productive to get it done all at once.

- You want to even limit bathroom breaks while batching because it will distract you and before you know it you’ll still be looking at the fridge for a snack 15 mins later (trust me, I know this from experience 😂)

2. GETTING YOUR BATCHING ENVIRONMENT READY.

- Make sure you are in an environment that gets you in your zone to get things done.

- If you are in a house full of people running around, of course you will get distracted.

- Batch your work in a quiet place or the place that allows your creative juices to flow.

3. HAVING THE RIGHT EQUIPMENT.

- Ex: If you are batching a video, make sure you have your camera, stand, charger, light etc.

- Make sure you have all of the stuff you will need to create your best content.

- It will take you more time to go back and get all of the things you forgot then it will to actually do the tasks.

- This also includes coffee, drinks, etc.

4. HAVING CLEAR GOALS OF WHAT YOU WANT TO ACCOMPLISH DURING THIS TIME

- When batching your work you want to have a goal in mind.

- What is it that you want to accomplish while batching?

- Ex: batching 2 videos for YT during this time block from start to finish.

- Ex: batching one Social Media post for each day of the week during this time block from start to finish.

- You need to know exactly what it is that you are wanting to get done during this time and how you are going to do it.

5. LET YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY KNOW ABOUT YOUR BATCH TIME.

- Trust me, as soon as you sit down to batch you will automatically become the most popular person in the world and get blown up if you don’t let people know ahead of time.

- Let people that you talk to on a regular basis know that you will be unavailable before you start batching and give them a time frame.

I’m telling you Batching has literally helped me so much to stay consistent and not stress out about having to come up with content on the spot every time I want to make a post, video, blog, etc.

Comment below and let me know if you've batched your work before and your experience with it.
