The Prayer of Binding and Loosing. Part 4 of the 8 Different Types of Prayers

In today's episode we will be going into the prayer of binding and loosing. So this is the 4th type of prayer that we've gone over in our 8 part series. If you haven't checked out my last 4 episodes, make sure you check those out. The first one was an introduction on prayer. I went over when to pray and all of the good things about prayer. The second week we went into the prayer of faith. The third week we went into the prayer of consecration. Last week we went into the prayer of agreement. So today we're going to be going all into the prayer of binding and loosing. I'm going to get into the definition of it and I'm going to pair it with scripture.

First, I want to say a quick prayer: "LORD, I pray that you lift up every single person reading this right now. I pray that you open up our ears, hearts, and minds to you LORD. I pray that whatever it is that each person is supposed to receive from this episode, that they receive it and they implement in in their daily lives. I pray that You open up our eyes to see the truth of Your words, to see the truth of who You really are LORD, and to be able to discern between Your truth and the lies of the enemy. We thank You so much for everything that You've done. I love You with every ounce of my being. In Jesus' name, Amen."

What is the prayer of binding and loosing?

According to Google, the prayer of binding and loosing is: "A type of prayer based on a biblical principle where believers use their authority to spiritually bind evil, such as restricting spiritual attacks and loose good, such as releasing people from or sin."

So in this type of prayer, we're not binding people or praying against people. We're binding the spiritual demonic forces that are controlling the minds of these people, or the spiritual forces that are trying to attack people or us, or we're binding the spiritual forces that are working through these people.

Let's get into some scripture:

"When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?” They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others, Elijah; still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” “But you,” he asked them, “who do you say that I am?” Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” Jesus responded, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, because flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but my Father in heaven. And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overpower it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will have been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will have been loosed in heaven.” 

-Matthew 16:13-19

“If your brother sins against you, go tell him his fault, between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have won your brother. But if he won’t listen, take one or two others with you, so that by the testimony of two or three witnesses every fact may be established. If he doesn’t pay attention to them, tell the church. If he doesn’t pay attention even to the church, let him be like a Gentile and a tax collector to you. Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will have been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will have been loosed in heaven."

-Matthew 18:15-18

Okay, so what does bind mean? Bind means to stop or forbid something. You can also look at it this way, and this is how Angela Keeton showed us whenever she was teaching us about this specific type of prayer, so when you think of a lock and you think of locking the lock, that's binding the lock, but when you think of unlocking it, that's loosing the lock. So loosing something would be to allow or permit something.

So now I'm going to talk a little bit about the authority that we have to bind spiritual forces. I know a lot of people, and I was like this as well, don't believe that we actually have any type of authority over demons. Which is completely wrong thinking and that is exactly what the devil wants you to think, because he doesn't want you to use your authority against him and his little demons. Jesus gave us this authority, and in His mighty name, we have power and authority over the dark forces, over the demonic spiritual forces that are working against us.

"Look, I have given you the authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy; nothing at all will harm you. However, don’t rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.” -Luke 10:19-20

"And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes; if they should drink anything deadly, it will not harm them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will get well.” -Mark 16:17-18

So we have to know our authority, and I'm going to probably do a whole other episode on the authority of the believer. I don't think I've done an episode on that before. I know I've thought about it, but if I haven't, I'll definitely do that. It's so important for us to know our authority and to be able to use it because we do have a real spiritual battle that is going on and we have power and authority in the mighty name of Jesus over the demonic forces that are working against us, our family, and everyone around us on a daily basis. But we have to know that we have that authority so that we can use it.

Okay, I'm going to interrupt this episode just for a minute because I just want to say that I am so grateful for you guys. I am just blown away by your generosity and how much love and support I have from you guys is so incredible. I can't thank you guys enough for everything. Because of the generosity of a few of you guys, I have been able to completely surpass the first deadline for my mission projects.

So if you don't know, I'm going to Brazil, Paraguay, Thailand and Albania next year. We are going to be going to schools, markets, streets, and neighborhoods spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ. We're going to do community projects, service projects, and just have one-on-one personal conversations with people spreading the gospel. Also we will be having crusades at night where thousands of people are going to get to hear the true simple gospel and be able to be saved and healed by Jesus Christ.

Our first deadline was November 1st. I had to get the $300 deposit for all of my trips. So it was a total of $900 that I needed to raise, and we completely surpassed that before the deadline. I just want to thank you guys so much for that. So now our next goal is 65% of the funds, and it's due by January 31st. So as I'm making this video today, we have raised $1,830 and I still need $5,433.75. That number may seem like a lot. I know it seems like a lot to me, but if just 40 people were to give $136 one time or $46 per month, I would be able to reach that goal by January 31st.

So here are some ways that you can partner with me in this:

1. Pray

   
   

   - Prayer is a vital part of our life, and it's so important for me to have as many prayer warriors as I possibly can while I'm going on these different mission projects and doing all these different things around the world. But also just having ministry here in Oklahoma and going to the School of Missions, I need prayer warriors by my side.

   
   

   - So please pray for me and also let me know how I can pray for you. This is a partnership and I want to pray for you as well. There may be specific needs that you have in your life or specific things that you need prayers for. Let me know so I can partner with you in prayer.

   
   
   
   

2. Give financially

   
   

   - Whatever that looks like for you, just pray and ask the Lord to open up your heart to know exactly what you should do. Is it should you just be praying for me, which is amazing, or is the Lord prompting you to give financially?

   
   

   - Whatever number that looks like that's between you and the Lord. With going on these different mission projects and traveling around the world spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ, that takes funds. This is not funds that I just readily have that I can fund myself for all of these projects.

   
   

   - So however you feel led by the Lord to partner with me, I just want to say in advance, thank you so much for your support, your love, and just being here reading these blogs.

Alright, now let's get back to the prayer of agreement.

So as far as binding the evil spiritual forces that are working against people or binding the devil from influencing or trying to control people's minds, if people are yielding to the devil, then he has the right to be there. But that does not stop us from binding or restricting the devil from allowing us to do the will of God.

So what are some ways that you can practice praying the prayer of binding? So whenever you're praying this prayer, you can bind up spiritual forces. If you are having anxiety or worry or doubt or confusion, all of the emotions and things that are not from the Lord, you can bind up the demonic forces and the spirits that are working against you, that are causing those things to happen. You can bind them up in the mighty name of Jesus. You can also bind up the devil from working in other people and from controlling the minds of other people. So if you know that other people are listening to the devil or they've got demonic forces that are working against them, you can also bind them up. Now, like I said, if those people are yielding to the devil, then he does have the right to be there. There's not a way that you can cast him out if they're yielding to him and they want him to stay there, but you can bind him up and restrict him from doing what God is calling you to do in their life.

Then with this prayer of binding, loosing also goes hand in hand. So what do we have the authority to loose? So there's two different things that we have the authority to loose. 1. We have the authority to loose angels to work on our behalf. 2. We also have the authority to loose the will of God.

Now with this first one, with the angels, I just want to be very, very clear. We are not praying to angels. That is not what I'm saying. We should not be praying to angels. The only one that we should be praying to is God the Father, in the mighty name of Jesus. He is the only one that is worthy of our prayers. Now, when I say losing angels to work on our behalf, what we can do is we can pray out scripture. The angels work for God. He has a army of angels that are at his dispense and He has angels work for us all the time that we don't even realize. Whenever we pray out specific scriptures, that allows or permits angels to go and work on our behalf.

"Bless the Lord, all his angels of great strength, who do his word, obedient to his command." -Psalm 103:20

So the Lord is the one that is in control of the angels. He is the one that is in control of everything. We don't have any control on our own over these angels, and we definitely shouldn't be praying to the angels, but we can pray out certain scriptures and with those certain scriptures that are according to the will of God, that will allow Him to send out His angels on our behalf to be able to do His will for His glory, His honor, and His praise.

Then the second part of what we can loose is the will of God. So I'm not going to read all of these scriptures, but I do want to mention these if you want to go through and read these on your own. These scriptures are ones that you can use to pray for revival, and then there's also scriptures that you can use for salvation. So the scriptures for revival are Acts 2:17, Numbers 14:21, Hosea 6:3, and Zechariah 10:1. Then the prayer for salvation of the lost is Psalm 2:8.

So all of these prayers that we're going to be talking about in these eight episodes are very important, and they're prayers that you need to pray all the time and that I pray all the time. But the prayer of binding and losing is so powerful and important, and so many people don't understand it and so they don't use it. But that's why it's so important for us to know our authority, to be able to bind up the demonic forces that are working against us and the people that we love. And also to loose the will of God and to just pray out scriptures so that God will send angels out on our behalf to do His will, and to make a way for us to be able to do His will.

So if you've never prayed the prayer of binding and loosing before, I highly recommend that you start today. Start doing it. It can be as simple as, "LORD, I bind up any demonic forces that are working against me in the mighty name of Jesus." It can be as simple as praying out scripture. Maybe there's certain scriptures that you want to pray over your life or over the life of others. Just pray those scriptures out. The more that you start practicing doing this prayer, the more things will come to you, the Holy Spirit will work through you, and you'll know exactly what to pray. Also, anytime before you pray, if you're not sure what to pray, ask the Holy Spirit. He is our helper. He's our comforter. He is there to show us the truth, and He speaks only what comes from God the Father. So definitely ask the Holy Spirit to guide you in this prayer of binding and loosing, and He will give you the words to speak. So that is it for today's episode. I hope it helped you guys.
