In today's episode we will be going into the prayer of casting cares. So this is the 5th type of prayer that we've gone over in our 8 part series. If you haven't checked out my last 5 episodes, make sure you check those out. The first one was an introduction on prayer. I went over when to pray and all of the good things about prayer. The second week we went into the prayer of faith. The third week we went into the prayer of consecration. The forth week we went into the prayer of agreement. The fifth week we went into the prayer of binding and loosing. So today we're going to be going all into the prayer of casting cares. I'm going to get into the definition of it and I'm going to pair it with scripture.
First, I want to say a quick prayer: "LORD, I pray that you lift up every single person reading this right now. I pray that you open up our ears, hearts, and minds to you Holy Spirit give me the words to speak and work through me to make an impact in other people's lives. LORD. I pray that whatever it is that each person is supposed to receive from this episode, that they receive it and they implement in in their daily lives. I love You with every ounce of my being. In Jesus' name, Amen."
What is the prayer of casting cares?
According to Google, the prayer of casting cares: "A heartfelt act of surrendering all your worries, anxieties, and burdens to God through prayer.."
Let's get into some scripture:
"Casting all your cares on him, because he cares about you.”
-1 Peter 5:7
“but the worries of this age, the deceitfulness of wealth, and the desires for other things enter in and choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful."
-Mark 4:19
So God doesn't want us to go around worrying about things. In the verse that I just read, Jesus was going over the parable about the sower and how there was seed that was sown in the soil and different things happened to it. If you haven't read the verses in Mark chapter four about the parable of the sower, I highly recommend that you go and read all of those verses. The parable is in Mark 4:13-20. In verse 19 He says that the worries of this age and the deceitfulness of wealth and the desires for other things enter in and they choke the word of God and it becomes unfruitful. God loves us so much, He cares for us so much, that He will take those worries, He will take those burdens. He wants us to cast those on Him.
"Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you; he will never allow the righteous to be shaken." -Psalm 55:22
“Come to me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, because I am lowly and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” -Matthew 11:28-30
So you may be going through it right now. You may be having a lot of anxiety and just worrying about different things. I'm here to tell you today that God wants to take the burden off of you. He wants you to cast your cares on him because he cares for you and He is gentle and humble in heart, and He will give you rest for your soul. He wants you to come to Him, find rest in Him, and give it all to him. You don't have to bare it alone, you don't have to bare it at all. He will take it from you and He'll sustain you. Worry is the opposite of faith and we have to stand firm in our faith.
Worry is actually a sin. I know that may be hard for some people to hear. I used to worry all the time and still, I mean I'm human, there's times where I worry. We have to cast our worries on the Lord, focus on Him, praise Him, give everything to Him, and keep our eyes fixed on Jesus. Whenever we start to stress out, worry, and have anxiety, we need to keep our eyes fixed on Him, give it all to Him, and let Him take care of it for us because we were never meant to carry the burden alone.
"Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus." -Philippians 4:6-7
So just like we see in verse 6 here, "do not worry about anything, but instead pray and present your request to God." Now with the prayer of casting cares, this is something that we're going to have to do over and over and over again. It's not just a one and done type of prayer. We have to cast our cares on the Lord and then leave them there and not pick them up. Then whenever new things arise, we have to cast that on the Lord and that's going to be a continued thing that we have to do daily in our lives. Whenever Angela Keeton was teaching us this prayer of casting cares, she said that "worry is the meditation on the lies of the devil. But faith is the meditation on the truth of the word of God."
Okay, I'm going to interrupt this episode just for a minute because I just want to say that I am so grateful for you guys. I am just blown away by your generosity and how much love and support I have from you guys is so incredible. I can't thank you guys enough for everything. Because of the generosity of a few of you guys, I have been able to completely surpass the first deadline for my mission projects.
So if you don't know, I'm going to Brazil, Paraguay, Thailand and Albania next year. We are going to be going to schools, markets, streets, and neighborhoods spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ. We're going to do community projects, service projects, and just have one-on-one personal conversations with people spreading the gospel. Also we will be having crusades at night where thousands of people are going to get to hear the true simple gospel and be able to be saved and healed by Jesus Christ.
Our first deadline was November 1st. I had to get the $300 deposit for all of my trips. So it was a total of $900 that I needed to raise, and we completely surpassed that before the deadline. I just want to thank you guys so much for that. So now our next goal is 65% of the funds, and it's due by January 31st. So as I'm making this video today, we have raised $1,830 and I still need $5,433.75. That number may seem like a lot. I know it seems like a lot to me, but if just 40 people were to give $136 one time or $46 per month, I would be able to reach that goal by January 31st.
So here are some ways that you can partner with me in this:
Pray
- Prayer is a vital part of our life, and it's so important for me to have as many prayer warriors as I possibly can while I'm going on these different mission projects and doing all these different things around the world. But also just having ministry here in Oklahoma and going to the School of Missions, I need prayer warriors by my side.
- So please pray for me and also let me know how I can pray for you. This is a partnership and I want to pray for you as well. There may be specific needs that you have in your life or specific things that you need prayers for. Let me know so I can partner with you in prayer.
Give financially
- Whatever that looks like for you, just pray and ask the Lord to open up your heart to know exactly what you should do. Is it should you just be praying for me, which is amazing, or is the Lord prompting you to give financially?
- Whatever number that looks like that's between you and the Lord. With going on these different mission projects and traveling around the world spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ, that takes funds. This is not funds that I just readily have that I can fund myself for all of these projects.
- So however you feel led by the Lord to partner with me, I just want to say in advance, thank you so much for your support, your love, and just being here reading these blogs.
- If you do want to give financially, you can go to https://give.globalventures.tv/ and type in my name (Lorena Espy) in the search bar. Then click on "donate on Pushpay," and then you'll go fill out the form and make sure in the memo line that you put my name.
- So again, I just want to thank you guys so much. You guys are awesome. I love you guys, and I just cannot wait to see what all God has in store with these mission projects. It's just so incredible to see how God is already moving with the ministry that I'm doing here with the school and I know He's going to continue to move in such a big way. I'm just so grateful that I get to partner with you guys in this and I can't wait to partner with more of you guys throughout this journey.
Alright, now let's get back to the prayer of agreement.
So how do we cast our cares on the Lord? We just pray to Him, we talk to the Lord, and just give everything to Him. Literally just lay it all down at his feet, throw it Him if you have to.
So in the prayer of casting cares, you just talk to the LORD and whatever it is that's making you anxious, whatever worries, doubts, and fears that you have, just give them all to the Lord. Just release them all to Him. However you want to say it in your conversation with the LORD, this is just you and Him. You let go of the grip, the grip that you have to try and take control of your own life or the grip that you have because you're so anxious, fearful, and you're afraid if you let go that something horrible is going to happen. Whenever you are casting your cares on the LORD, you're taking that fist and you're throwing your cares on the Lord and He will just take them, they will go away, He will sustain you, He will give you rest, and He will supply all of your needs.
The LORD is our helper. He's the only one that can redeem us and the only one that can sustain us. You don't have to live life in fear. You don't have to live life anxious and on edge all the time. You don't have to live life worried about everything and feeling like you need to control everything, because God is the one that is in complete control. God is love and He's our Father. He's our good, good Father and He cares for us, has compassion on us, wants the best for us. We do not have to carry burdens. We do not have to worry, be anxious, and try to control things on our own. Trying to control things and do our own thing just puts unnecessary burdens on us.
So I hope this episode helped you guys to know what the prayer of casting cares is and that you don't have to hold onto your worries, fears, or doubts. You can give them all to the LORD and He'll take them, He'll sustain you, He'll give you rest, and He's the one that's in complete control. We can have hope in knowing that we are completely safe with the Lord, that He cares for us, and that whenever we give everything to Him and we let go of control that we are so desperately trying to hold onto, that He'll take better care of us than we could ever try and take care of ourselves. So that is it for today's episode. Make sure you stay tuned for next week because we're going to go into the prayer of praise and worship.
I love you guys so much.
Never forget to choose faith over fear.
