So today is officially our 1st episode of the 8 part series that we're doing about 8 different types of prayers. So today we're going to be going all into the prayer of faith. I will be pairing this with scripture. I will go into the definition of the prayer of faith. I will be going over two different ways to do the prayer of faith, and then also some types of people to pray for.
First, I want to say a quick prayer: "LORD, I pray that you lift up every single person reading this right now. Holy Spirit consume me and move me to do the will of God the Father. Please open up our eyes, ears, hearts, and minds to you LORD. I pray that whatever it is that each person is supposed to receive from this episode, that they receive it and they implement in in their daily lives. I love You with every ounce of my being. In Jesus' name, Amen."
What is the prayer of faith?
According to Google, the prayer of faith is: "A heartfelt prayer, rooted in genuine trust in God's promises, believing that he hears and will act according to his will."
So when praying the prayer faith, you can do it in two different ways:
Praying for yourself
- Specifically praying for yourself for a need in your life.
Now let's get into some scripture:
"Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus." -Philippians 4:6-7
Right here we see in these verses, with prayer and petition present your requests to God. God loves us, He cares for us so much, He wants what's best for us, and He wants to answer our prayers, but only if they're according to His will. We will get more into that in the other different types of prayers. Whenever we're praying the prayer of faith, we are praying and believing that God is going to come through on a specific need that we have. So we're going to present our request to God, and if we line up our will with the word of God, then we will find our answer.
So when we're praying this prayer of faith for specific needs, get into the word of God Look at Bible verses and scriptures that pertain to the specific need that you have. Then pray that prayer of faith and pray that scripture while you're praying that prayer of faith.
"But when you pray, go into your private room, shut your door, and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you." -Matthew 6:6
"Now he told them a parable on the need for them to pray always and not give up." -Luke 18:1
"Now without faith it is impossible to please God, since the one who draws near to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him." -Hebrews 11:6
Okay, I'm going to interrupt this episode just for a minute because I just want to say that I am so grateful for you guys. I am just blown away by your generosity and how much love and support I have from you guys is so incredible. I can't thank you guys enough for everything. Because of the generosity of a few of you guys, I have been able to completely surpass the first deadline for my mission projects.
So if you don't know, I'm going to Brazil, Paraguay, Thailand and Albania next year. We are going to be going to schools, markets, streets, and neighborhoods spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ. We're going to do community projects, service projects, and just have one-on-one personal conversations with people spreading the gospel. Also we will be having crusades at night where thousands of people are going to get to hear the true simple gospel and be able to be saved and healed by Jesus Christ.
Our first deadline was November 1st. I had to get the $300 deposit for all of my trips. So it was a total of $900 that I needed to raise, and we completely surpassed that before the deadline. I just want to thank you guys so much for that. So now our next goal is 65% of the funds, and it's due by January 31st. So as I'm making this video today, we have raised $1,830 and I still need $5,433.75. That number may seem like a lot. I know it seems like a lot to me, but if just 40 people were to give $136 one time or $46 per month, I would be able to reach that goal by January 31st.
So here are some ways that you can partner with me in this:
Pray
- Prayer is a vital part of our life, and it's so important for me to have as many prayer warriors as I possibly can while I'm going on these different mission projects and doing all these different things around the world. But also just having ministry here in Oklahoma and going to the School of Missions, I need prayer warriors by my side.
- So please pray for me and also let me know how I can pray for you. This is a partnership and I want to pray for you as well. There may be specific needs that you have in your life or specific things that you need prayers for. Let me know so I can partner with you in prayer.
Give financially
- Whatever that looks like for you, just pray and ask the Lord to open up your heart to know exactly what you should do. Is it should you just be praying for me, which is amazing, or is the Lord prompting you to give financially?
- Whatever number that looks like that's between you and the Lord. With going on these different mission projects and traveling around the world spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ, that takes funds. This is not funds that I just readily have that I can fund myself for all of these projects.
- So however you feel led by the Lord to partner with me, I just want to say in advance, thank you so much for your support, your love, and just being here reading these blogs.
- If you do want to give financially, you can go to https://give.globalventures.tv/ and type in my name (Lorena Espy) in the search bar. Then click on "donate on Pushpay," and then you'll go fill out the form and make sure in the memo line that you put my name.
- So again, I just want to thank you guys so much. You guys are awesome. I love you guys, and I just cannot wait to see what all God has in store with these mission projects. It's just so incredible to see how God is already moving with the ministry that I'm doing here with the school and I know He's going to continue to move in such a big way. I'm just so grateful that I get to partner with you guys in this and I can't wait to partner with more of you guys throughout this journey.
Alright, now let's get back to the prayer of faith..
2. Another way to pray a prayer of faith is to pray for other people
Now, this is going to be a repeated prayer that you're going to have to keep praying over and over for them, because not only is there your will and God's will in this equation, but it's also the will of other people. We can't force our will or God's will on someone else.
So we have to continue to pray that the eyes of the people that we're praying for are going to be open. God honors our free will, and so He's not going to force His will on anyone, and we can't force our will on anyone. So we just have to continue to pray that their eyes are going to be open to seeing the truth, to knowing the truth, to being receptive to the truth of God and being receptive to Him. Whatever the case is for that person, whether they're saved or not, just praying that their eyes will be open and that they will be transformed by Jesus, and that they will come to Him with all of their hearts.
So Whenever you're praying for other people, there can be all sorts of people to pray for. It's so important that you're being led by the Holy Spirit. So ask the Holy Spirit who it is that you should be praying for. If you get a thought of someone, pray for that person and intercede for them.
If the people you're praying for are not saved, pray that they come to the Lord and get saved by Him. Also pray and ask the Lord what It is that you should do, what your part should have in them coming to get to know Jesus and having a relationship with Him. Obviously, we can't save anyone, but we can be stepping stones to someone's salvation by letting them know about the Lord. We can pray for them and we can also spread the gospel to others.
So you can pray for People that are unsaved. Pray for little children. Whoever comes up in your head when you're asking the Holy Spirit, "who should I pray for?" Start praying for that person.
"For this reason I kneel before the Father from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named. I pray that he may grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with power in your inner being through his Spirit, and that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. I pray that you, being rooted and firmly established in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the length and width, height and depth of God’s love, and to know Christ’s love that surpasses knowledge, so that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. Now to him who is able to do above and beyond all that we ask or think according to the power that works in us— to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen." -Ephesians 3:14-21
The book of Ephesians is Paul writing a letter to the Church of Ephesus. So in this scripture, this is a prayer that Paul is praying to the church of Ephesus.
"Pray at all times in the Spirit with every prayer and request, and stay alert with all perseverance and intercession for all the saints." -Ephesians 6:18
Alright, so with the prayer of faith, you want to pray for yourself for specific needs that you have and make sure they line up with scripture, get into the Bible, and see the verses that line up with what you're asking for. If whatever what you're asking for lines up with scripture, then the Lord will hear your prayers. Also pray for other people. Pray for their eyes to be open. Pray for them to come to the Lord and for their salvation. Pray for them to know the truth of God's words. Just really spend some time, if you haven't been doing this, to pray the prayer of faith. I want you to take some time today to really dedicate to pray for the needs of yourself and then also pray for others. So that is it for today's episode. Stay tuned for next week, we will be going go into the prayer of consecration.
I love you guys so much.
Never forget to choose faith over fear.
