In today's episode we will be going into the prayer of praise and worship. So this is the 6th type of prayer that we've gone over in our 8 part series. If you haven't checked out my last 6 episodes, make sure you check those out. The first one was an introduction on prayer. I went over when to pray and all of the good things about prayer. The second week we went into the prayer of faith. The third week we went into the prayer of consecration. The forth week we went into the prayer of agreement. The fifth week we went into the prayer of binding and loosing. The sixth week we went into the prayer of casting cares. So today we're going to be going all into the prayer of praise and worship. I'm going to get into the definition of it and I'm going to pair it with scripture.
First, I want to say a quick prayer: "LORD, I pray that you lift up every single person reading this right now. I pray that you open up our ears, hearts, and minds to you. I pray that you wrap your arms around each person reading this and that you show them Your love, mercy, and Your grace. LORD. I pray that whatever it is that each person is supposed to receive from this episode, that they receive it and they implement in in their daily lives. I love You with every ounce of my being. In Jesus' name, Amen."
What is the prayer of praise and worship?
According to Google, the prayer of praise and worship: "A form of prayer focused on adoring, exalting, and expressing profound love for God, acknowledging his inherent worth and greatness, not just for what he does, but because of who he is involving both verbal declaration (praise) and inward total surrender (worship) to an intimate relationship often expressed through thanksgiving, adoration, and awe-filled communication."
So the prayer of praise and worship is probably the one that I do most often. God just wants to spend time with us. So whenever we pray the prayer of praise and worship, we're just taking time devoted to the LORD to minister to him, to show our gratitude and awe for him. So a big way to pray with praise and worship is to listen to worship music, sing to the Lord, and just praise His holy name through song and through just sitting in His presence, soaking it all, and just being with Him. We were not created to serve God, but to love Him and to be in relationship with Him.
HERE ARE SOME PRAISE AND WORSHIP SONGS THAT I LOVE:
"God, you are my God and I will Ever Praise You" by Hillsong
"Open the eyes of my heart Lord" by gateway featuring Matthew and Jesse Harris.
Give me Jesus + By Common Gathering
"Holy Forever" by Chris Tomlin
"Lean Back" by Davey Flowers
"Always On Time" by Elevation Worship
So obviously you don't have to listen to the songs that I'm recommending, but if you haven't gotten to the practice of really just listening to worship music, soaking in the presence of the LORD, and just praising and worshiping Him, you can start just by going on Google and looking up praise and worship songs. Or you can look up the songs that I recommended. But I highly recommend if you haven't been practicing the prayer of praise and worship to start today. You may say, "Oh, I do that all the time because I always have worship music playing in the background whenever I'm doing other tasks or I'm getting ready for the day," or whatever the case may be, because I do the same thing. What I'm specifically speaking of when I'm talking about the prayer of praise and worship is taking time dedicated to just focusing on praising and worshiping the LORD with no distractions. So that means not just having the music on in the background while you're doing your hair, getting ready for the day, or doing chores around the house, but just sitting and allowing the presence of the LORD to fill you, asking the Holy Spirit to consume you, and just sitting with the LORD and worshiping His holy name and just being in the presence of the LORD, ministering to Him, showing Him your love and gratitude for Him through praise and worship.
Let's get into some scripture:
"Now in the church at Antioch there were prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Simeon who was called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen, a close friend of Herod the tetrarch, and Saul. As they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.” -Acts 12:1-2
"Then I said: 'Woe is me for I am ruined because I am a man of unclean lips and live among a people of unclean lips, and because my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of Armies.' Then one of the seraphim flew to me, and in his hand was a glowing coal that he had taken from the altar with tongs." -Isaiah 6:5-6
In chapter six of the book of Isaiah, Isaiah had encountered God. Whenever he encountered the presence of God, he was changed forever. As Christians, whenever we ask Jesus Christ to come into our hearts, forgive us of sins, and we're saved by Jesus, we have the Holy Spirit within us. The presence of God never leaves us, and we can invite the presence of God in every situation of our life and just sit in His presence. Just because God is always with us and the Holy Spirit is within us, doesn't mean that we don't need to take time to dedicate to sit in the presence of God and allow us to just spend time with Him and show Him our adoration, our love for Him, and praising Him for who He is and for His holy name.
Okay, I'm going to interrupt this episode just for a minute because I just want to say that I am so grateful for you guys. I am just blown away by your generosity and how much love and support I have from you guys is so incredible. I can't thank you guys enough for everything. Because of the generosity of a few of you guys, I have been able to completely surpass the first deadline for my mission projects.
So if you don't know, I'm going to Brazil, Paraguay, Thailand and Albania next year. We are going to be going to schools, markets, streets, and neighborhoods spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ. We're going to do community projects, service projects, and just have one-on-one personal conversations with people spreading the gospel. Also we will be having crusades at night where thousands of people are going to get to hear the true simple gospel and be able to be saved and healed by Jesus Christ.
Our first deadline was November 1st. I had to get the $300 deposit for all of my trips. So it was a total of $900 that I needed to raise, and we completely surpassed that before the deadline. I just want to thank you guys so much for that. So now our next goal is 65% of the funds, and it's due by January 31st. So as I'm making this video today, we have raised $2,410 and I still need $4,853.75. That number may seem like a lot. I know it seems like a lot to me, but if just 40 people were to give $122 one time or $61 per month, I would be able to reach that goal by January 31st.
So here are some ways that you can partner with me in this:
Pray
- Prayer is a vital part of our life, and it's so important for me to have as many prayer warriors as I possibly can while I'm going on these different mission projects and doing all these different things around the world. But also just having ministry here in Oklahoma and going to the School of Missions, I need prayer warriors by my side.
- So please pray for me and also let me know how I can pray for you. This is a partnership and I want to pray for you as well. There may be specific needs that you have in your life or specific things that you need prayers for. Let me know so I can partner with you in prayer.
Give financially
- Whatever that looks like for you, just pray and ask the Lord to open up your heart to know exactly what you should do. Is it should you just be praying for me, which is amazing, or is the Lord prompting you to give financially?
- Whatever number that looks like that's between you and the Lord. With going on these different mission projects and traveling around the world spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ, that takes funds. This is not funds that I just readily have that I can fund myself for all of these projects.
- So however you feel led by the Lord to partner with me, I just want to say in advance, thank you so much for your support, your love, and just being here reading these blogs.
- If you do want to give financially, you can go to https://give.globalventures.tv/ and type in my name (Lorena Espy) in the search bar. Then click on "donate on Pushpay," and then you'll go fill out the form and make sure in the memo line that you put my name.
- So again, I just want to thank you guys so much. You guys are awesome. I love you guys, and I just cannot wait to see what all God has in store with these mission projects. It's just so incredible to see how God is already moving with the ministry that I'm doing here with the school and I know He's going to continue to move in such a big way. I'm just so grateful that I get to partner with you guys in this and I can't wait to partner with more of you guys throughout this journey.
Okay now let's get back into the prayer of praise and worship...
"The crowd joined in the attack against them, and the chief magistrates stripped off their clothes and ordered them to be beaten with rods. After they had severely flogged them, they threw them in jail, ordering the jailer to guard them carefully. Receiving such an order, he put them into the inner prison and secured their feet in the stocks. About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the jail were shaken, and immediately all the doors were opened, and everyone’s chains came loose."
-Acts 16:22-26
These verses right here show that power is released in praise and worship. Paul and Silas were praising and worshiping the LORD and there was an earthquake that shook the chains loose, the chains that they had on them from being in prison. The greatest ministry that you'll ever have will not be to the crowd of people. The greatest ministry will be to one, which is the very most important one, God the Almighty, our Father. Whenever we spend time ministering to Him, praising Him, worshiping Him in song, and just sitting in reverence in awe of who He is, and just spending time with Him, just being in His presence, and just opening up our heart to Him, that is the greatest thing in the world.
Our whole purpose in life is to have a relationship with the LORD, and then to go out to other people and spread the gospel so that they may know Jesus and they may be saved by Him and have a relationship with him also, and then ultimately go to heaven and spend eternity with the LORD. That is the whole point of all of this. We don't have to wait until we go to heaven to spend time with the Lord. We can spend time with the LORD right now. We can be in His presence at any point. We just have to acknowledge that He is right here with us, allow Him to just sit with us, to speak to us, and just show Him our gratitude and adoration towards Him.
So if you haven't ever just sat and did the prayer of praise and worship, or if you haven't done it in a long time, I highly recommend you to just carve out some time today. Put on some worship music, just sit at the feet of Jesus, praise and worship His holy name, and just spend time in His presence and ask the Holy Spirit to fill you. Ask the Holy Spirit to consume you and draw you close to the Father, and just spend time with Him. I'm telling you, if you pray this prayer and you continue to do it every day, you'll see transformation in your life. I guarantee it.
Alright, so that is it for today's episode. I hope this episode helped you guys to know what the prayer of praise and worship is. Also, if you needed some recommendations for songs, I hope those recommendations helped you and that you love them as much as I do. Make sure you stay tuned for next week because we're going to go into the prayer of intercession.
I love you guys so much.
Never forget to choose faith over fear.
