"What is salvation?" "Can we save ourselves through our works?" Here's What the Bible Says

"What is salvation?"

"How can we be saved?"

"Can we save ourselves through our works?"

These are all questions that a lot of people have asked themselves or someone else at least once in their lifetime.

In today's episode, I am going to go into all about salvation and I'm going to be answering the questions above that you or someone you know may have. I'm also going to be pairing this with Bible scriptures about salvation.

This episode is part of a little ongoing series that I've been doing where I go over different Bible verses on a certain word each week. We've done strength, peace, joy, and hope so far, so if you haven't already go and check out those episodes.

First I want to say a quick prayer... Lord, I pray that you lift up every single person reading this right now. Please open up our hearts, our minds, our eyes, and our ears to you LORD. Holy Spirit please guide us and help us to see the truth, know the truth, discern the truth, and live by the truth. I pray that whatever it is that each person is supposed to receive from this episode, that they receive it and they implement it in their daily lives. I love you with every ounce of my being. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Alright so first I just want to go over the question... "What is salvation?" Salvation is being saved from our sins and having eternal life in heaven. So whenever we are saved, we are not separated from God for our sins. We are dead in our sins and alive in Jesus. When we are saved we have eternal life in heaven with Jesus Christ and God the Father.

Here is a Bible scripture about salvation:

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him." -John 3:16-17

In these verses here we see that God loved us so much, and he still loves us so much, that He sent His only Son Jesus Christ to die on the cross for our sins. So that whoever believes in Jesus shall not perish but have everlasting life in heaven with Him and God the Father.

So "How can we be saved?" We can be saved by asking Jesus to come into our hearts. The only way that we can be saved is through Jesus Christ

Here are some scriptures on how we can be saved:

That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. -Romans 10:9

"then know this, you and all the people of Israel: It is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified but whom God raised from the dead, that this man stands before you healed. He is “‘the stone you builders rejected, which has become the capstone.’ Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.”

-Acts 4:10-12

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." -John 14:6

So from the three scriptures above, we can see that Jesus Christ is the only way that we can be saved. We have to confess and admit that Jesus is LORD and believe in our hearts that He is the only way to get into heaven and that He walked on this earth, lived a sinless life, died on the cross for our sins, rose again three days later, and that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life in heaven with Him and God the Father. This leads me to our other question which is... "Can we save ourselves through our works?"

We can clearly see here from these scriptures and from the answer to the last question, no we cannot save ourselves through our works. Because the only way that we can be saved is through believing in Jesus Christ and knowing that He is LORD and He is the only way into heaven. There are people that will tell you that you have to do all these different things in order to make it into heaven and that just faith in Jesus alone is not going to get you into heaven. But I am going to go into scripture that says otherwise.

"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast." -Ephesians 2:8-9

So we know from this scripture here that salvation is a gift from God and we cannot work our way into heaven. The only way to enter heaven is through believing in Jesus Christ and being saved by Him. I know a lot of people have questions about works getting you into heaven because a lot of people preach about that. If you want me to go more into depth in a blog just about all of the different scriptures proving that works don't get you into heaven and that faith produces good works in Christians but you don't have to work your way into heaven, I can do a blog on that. Either email me at faithfuelsmyfire@gmail.com or you can message me on Facebook (Lorena Camille) and just let me know that you read my blog about salvation and want me to do a blog going more into depth with works not getting you into heaven. That will help me to know if I should do a blog just on works not getting you into heaven or if just doing this blog on salvation kind of clears up all those questions and we don't need a separate blog on that.

Oh hey friend, sorry to interrupt this blog post, but I just wanted to remind you guys that "Christ Transforms Me," my 90-day journal is available for purchase on Amazon. To learn more about the journal or to purchase one, go to www.faithfuelsmyfire.com/journal

Here are a few more scriptures about salvation:

"he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit," -Titus 3:5

"He then brought them out and asked, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household." -Acts 16:30-31

"so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him." -Hebrews 9:28

"I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. He will come in and go out, and find pasture." -John 10:9

So in these verses here we see that we were not saved because of things that we had done but because of the grace and mercy of God and that through Jesus Christ we are saved. What it says in Hebrews chapter 9, Christ was sacrificed once to take away our sins. Jesus died on the cross and then He will come back again for His people to bring salvation to all who wait on Him. So for all of us who are believers in Jesus Christ and are saved by Him, He will come back for His people and we have eternal life in heaven with Jesus and God the Father. In the verse we read in John chapter 10, this is Jesus saying that He is the gate. We are the sheep and Jesus is the good shepherd. Jesus is the gate so all who enter through Him will be saved. We just have to believe that Jesus is the LORD, confess that with our mouths, believe in our hearts that He died on the cross, God raised Him from the dead, and that the only way to have eternal life in heaven is through Jesus Christ.

I hope this episode helped you guys to know exactly what salvation is, how we can be saved, and if we can be saved through our works or if we have to work our way into heaven. Also if you know someone that has been having questions about salvation, send this blog to them and hopefully it will help them and be able to clear up all the questions that they may have about salvation.

I love you guys so much.

Never forget to choose faith over fear.
