I did want to say a quick prayer... Lord, I pray that you lift up every single person reading this right now. Please give us knowledge and understanding to know exactly what it is that we are reading, and the wisdom to implement it in our daily lives. Holy Spirit please guide us and help us to see the truth, know the truth, discern the truth, and live by the truth. I pray that whatever it is that each person is supposed to receive from this Bible study, they receive it and implement it in their daily lives. Lord, I can't thank you enough for every single thing that you've done and continue to do. I love you with every ounce of my being. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Luke Chapter 18 Part 2:

18 A certain ruler asked him, “Good teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?”

19 “Why do you call me good?” Jesus answered. “No one is good—except God alone. 20 You know the commandments: ‘Do not commit adultery, do not murder, do not steal, do not give false testimony, honor your father and mother.’ ”

21 “All these I have kept since I was a boy,” he said.

22 When Jesus heard this, he said to him, “You still lack one thing. Sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”

23 When he heard this, he became very sad, because he was a man of great wealth. 24 Jesus looked at him and said, “How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God! 25 Indeed, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.”

26 Those who heard this asked, “Who then can be saved?”

27 Jesus replied, “What is impossible with men is possible with God.”

28 Peter said to him, “We have left all we had to follow you!”

29 “I tell you the truth,” Jesus said to them, “no one who has left home or wife or brothers or parents or children for the sake of the kingdom of God 30 will fail to receive many times as much in this age and, in the age to come, eternal life.”

So in verse 19 when Jesus says, "only God is good," Jesus is God the Son. Humans are all sinners, but Jesus was fully man and fully God. The commandments that Jesus says in verse 20 here, are from Exodus 20:12-16 and then also Deuteronomy 5: 16-20 if you want to go and check those out. In verses 22-25, this rich ruler loved money and materialistic things and he valued his wealth more than following Jesus. We saw in our previous Bible study in chapter 16 of the book of Luke that we can't love both money and God. A rich person that values their money and materialistic things more than God will never make it into heaven. We have to love God more than anything, If you love money and this world then you don't truly love God because like it says in chapter 16 of the book of Luke, we can't serve both God and money. Either we hate one and love the other, or we will be devoted to one and despise the other.

In verse 27, all things are possible with God. A person can't get themselves into heaven, but God can change their heart and they will receive eternal life if they come to Jesus, repent, and acknowledge their guilt. In verses 28-30, whenever we leave everything we have and follow Jesus we will receive more than we had before and our true treasure is in heaven with Jesus and God the Father. So the things that we receive whenever we leave everything and follow Jesus may not be an abundance of materialistic things, but it will be spiritual abundance and we will have eternal life in heaven with Jesus and God the Father, and that is the greatest gift.

31 Jesus took the Twelve aside and told them, “We are going up to Jerusalem, and everything that is written by the prophets about the Son of Man will be fulfilled. 32 He will be handed over to the Gentiles. They will mock him, insult him, spit on him, flog him and kill him. 33 On the third day he will rise again.”

34 The disciples did not understand any of this. Its meaning was hidden from them, and they did not know what he was talking about.

So in verses 31-34, Jesus told the twelve what was to come with his crucifixion and resurrection, but they didn't understand it because the meaning was hidden from them. In God's perfect timing they would understand all of these things.

35 As Jesus approached Jericho, a blind man was sitting by the roadside begging. 36 When he heard the crowd going by, he asked what was happening. 37 They told him, “Jesus of Nazareth is passing by.”

38 He called out, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”

39 Those who led the way rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”

40 Jesus stopped and ordered the man to be brought to him. When he came near, Jesus asked him, 41 “What do you want me to do for you?”

“Lord, I want to see,” he replied.

42 Jesus said to him, “Receive your sight; your faith has healed you.” 43 Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus, praising God. When all the people saw it, they also praised God.

Alright, so those are all of the verses of part 2 of chapter 18 of the book of Luke, but I'm going to discuss these verses with you guys here. In verse 40, Jesus already knows what we truly need but sometimes he wants us to tell him what we need. Sometimes the things that we think that we need aren't the things that we actually need, but we have to present our requests to God and let Jesus know what we truly need. In verse 42, this man's faith led him to call out to Jesus and to be persistent even when he got rebuked. Jesus performed this miraculous sign and the man that was blind and all the people that saw this praised God.

Here are 3 takeaways to write down:

1. With God all things are possible

2. We have to love God more than anything

3. Jesus wants us to tell him what we need

- He wants us to come to him in faith and let him know what we need
